The Beach was a Blast!

The year a Summer vacation was not in our plans. I was really sad because I was looking forward to going to the beach. Thankfully, Mimi and Grandpa Keegan came to the rescue and invited us to join them at their rental condo in Port Aransas, Texas. We headed for the gulf coast on a Monday morning this past July. I behaved remarkably well in the car (thanks to the nice long break along the way at Chick-fil-a.) The drive took us about 7 hours and I was very excited to get out of my car seat.
Mimi and Grandpa rented a condo at the Sandpiper.  It couldn't have been any closer to the beach. Perfect! Mommy, Daddy, and I shared a room, Mimi and Aunt Megan shared a room, and Grandpa took the couch.  Our condo was on the first floor so no elevators or steps and a very short walk on a deck out to the sand and surf.  For a worthy $10 a day you could rent a canopy that came with chairs.  What a deal!
As soon as the Sun came out we loaded up our necessities and hit the beach.  I was decked out in my Dora gear and ready for some waves, sand, and a little snacking.  To my surprise, Daddy bought me a kite and I got to fly it for the very first time.
The kite was amazing and we all quickly learned the the beach is by far the best place to fly one.  It literally stayed up in the air until we cut it down that evening.  The trip went by way too quickly.  I loved digging in the sand, enjoying snacks in my Dora chair, and splashing in the waves.

Did I mention that I also loved just hanging out in the condo?   I had my very own princess air-mattress sleeping bag and tons of toys and videos.  We also had tons of snacks and junk food to keep me wild for hours.  I learned what Cheetos, Fritos, and Doritos were and I also had ice cream almost every night. Yummy!

I'm sure by now you're wondering...I thought Aunt Megan was there? She WAS but somehow we did not capture one picture of her. :-(  I think we were having so much fun that Mommy and Daddy forget to get the camera and record all of the great moments!

By the way, the trip home was not as great as the trip going to the beach (but then again, when is it ever?)  We made it to San Marcos and then took a break to browse the outlet mall and have a quick lunch.  One hour from San Marcos we hit the lovely Austin traffic.  In five solid lanes of traffic sitting still, I told Mommy and Daddy I didn't feel good.  My exact words were, "I have a headache." Mommy thought I was being a drama queen but the next thing you know I had what I refer to as "Yucky Spit" but Mommy and Daddy call it projectile vomiting.  So...Mommy is contorting her body over the front seat to try and catch it while Daddy is trying to cross 5 lanes of traffic to the nearest exit.  Once we stopped the car we found ourselves at a gas station in the most undesirable part of Austin where Mommy proceeded to strip me naked in the parking lot and Daddy disassembled the backseat and attempted to clean the vomit (with paper towels and Wet Ones.)Thankfully, we all survived and the car too.  What would a family vacation be without a little DRAMA, right?

Thanks again to Mimi & Grandpa for an awesome Summer vacation (and I have the pictures to prove it!
